The moment two people decide to spend the rest of their lives together is an increadibly significant time in a relationship. It happens once (hopefully) but remains forever in the couple’s memory. It is momentous and deserves CELEBRATION.
The past few weeks I have had the honor of being a part of planning an engagement party for a young, bay area couple. We began with a hope of a relaxed yet fun gathering (much like the couple themselves) with food to match. Mother of the ‘bride to be’ opened her home for the occasion and in turn was very much in charge. We created a menu that was both affordable (considering the BIG bill, the wedding bill, was next) and delicious.
The menu included:
- Garlic Prawns Served with Lemon Basil Aioli
- A Cascading Bruschetta Display with Assorted Spreads: Caponata, Tomato and Basil, Roasted Garlic tapenade, Cannellini Beans with Rosemary and Prosciuto, and Red Pepper Hummus.
- Petite Smoked Tri Tip Sandwiches with Caramelized Onions, Arugula, and Mustard Herb Aioli on Housemade Brioche Rolls
- Catalan Meatballs in Romesco Sauce.
On the evening of the event, the guests arrived at 6:30pm. Servers greeted each person with a glass of wine and pointed them in the direction of the main event. All fifty guests gathered in the living room and kitchen area to enjoy and celebrate the joyous occasion of engagement. They sipped wine and indulged in the menu the proud hostess hand-selected. The night had many smiles, lots of laughter, and full stomachs. A night I am certain no one will forget.
